Highlighted Company

I call myself the Original Bulldog, but I got a lot of what I am from my Dad.  I think that’s the case with many of us.  It’s interesting, I think, that even though he actually retired back in 1992 from the Eastman Kodak Company, Dad still bleeds blue, not so much Kodak yellow. That’s because he spent most of his working life with IBM.

My Dad - The Senior Bulldog - loved IBM because, at least during the time he worked for them and probably still, they had the utmost regard for the folks who worked for them.  They had great integrity and always bent over backwards to help their customers. He always said that the people he worked with In IBM were the very best of the best at what they did. Dad went to Kodak during his last four working years up to 1992 when Kodak initiated an early retirement program. As Dad said, as much as he loved IBM, Kodak had purchased the IBM division Dad was with at the time. They made him an offer he just could not refuse.  Just the same, he still bleeds IBM blue, while at the same time having a great regard for the Kodak Company.

Dad started his own company shortly after retiring and he and an older brother of mine and I worked together to make a go of it.  Finally, when we could see that the company was just not going to make it Dad closed the doors. Dad is fond of saying that in those years trying to make it with our company, he didn’t make much money, but earned a “hard knocks” MBA.  I think that’s true for him and I certainly learned a lot from the experience as well.

Dad now works for Heartland Payment Systems. He says that Heartland is so much like IBM in so many ways, for him, it’s been like going home.

At Heartland Payment Systems Dad is a W-2 employee, but works a lot like an independent entrepreneur.   He can work with anyone, anywhere in the USA to set businesspeople up with Credit Card processing, Payroll processing, Check Management, Gift Cards, and prepaid wireless and long distance.  He helps with many of the financial things that people in business must have.  The Senior Bulldog is located in South Georgia, but again, he can work with businesspeople anywhere in the country
